| Working Locally to Stop Global Warming | ||
| Okay, so you're
skeptical. Perhaps you heard Senator James Inhofe, the improbable
chairman of the Senate's Committee on Environment and Public Works
saying that global warming was a hoax and you took him at his
word. I would suggest answering for yourself the following
questions:
1. Does the atmosphere contain carbon dioxide? 2. Does atmospheric carbon dioxide influence global temperatures? 3. Will that influence be enhanced by the addition of more carbon dioxide? 4. Have human activities led to a net emission of carbon dioxide? If you answered "no" to any of these questions then you are departing from basic physics. Think those "official" climate skeptics are giving you an unbiased view? - Check out where their funding comes from.

The Three Certainties (Source: Cynthia Rosenzweig – Head, Climate Impacts Group – NASA/Goddard Institute for Space Studies) 1.) CO2 causes a greenhouse effect in the atmosphere. This is a scientific principle and not a model based conclusion. 2.) Carbon dioxide concentrations are increasing due to fossil fuel combustion. 280 ppm*..................380 ppm 1850.........................2004 3.) Global average temperature is rising: 56.5 °F…………………………58.03 °F (Hottest Year on Record 1998 - 58.14 °F) 1860…………………………….2003 *parts per million |

The scientific community has reached consensus on the fact that climate
change is happening and humans are the main cause.
Check out just some of the many scientific organizations that hold this position and judge for yourself: American Association for the Advancement of Science The National Science Foundation The National Academy of Sciences The American Geophysical Union The UN (through the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change -IPCC) The US Environmental Protection Agency |
